Earth is the first Planet that you unlock. It cannot be locked by any means.
Mining on Earth is the first Planet. Once you get to the other planets (and get more dogecoins and DPS) You'll visit earth every so often. Because the higher tier planets (such as Mars And Jupiter) Offer More DPS for more dogecoins making the earth not that efficient for Dogecoins.
The helpers are the Mining Shibe, Doge Kennels, Slave Kittens, Moon Rocket, Time Machine Mining Rig, and the Infinite Dogeability Drive, or the IDD.
The Time Machine Mining Rig is a mid game helper and the IDD is an end game helper.
